SOREC2 showcased at “Chimica sotto l’albero” in Bari
Alberto Magliocco, a PhD student in Professor Serena Berardi’s group at the University of Ferrara and SOREC2 team member, participated in the “Chimica sotto l’albero” symposium. This chemistry event, organized by the Italian Chemical Society and the University of Bari Aldo Moro, took place at the Politecnico di Bari from December 19th to 20th, 2024. The symposium included keynote lectures from leading researchers in fields such as virtual reality in education, advanced battery design, and organic synthesis among other topics.
“Chimica sotto l’albero” provided a platform for young researchers to present their work in the form of oral presentations, flash presentations, and poster sessions. Alberto Magliocco presented his present research work in an oral presentation titled “Thin BiVO4 photoanodes for photoelectrochemical assemblies powering CO2 reduction.“
During his presentation, Magliocco highlighted the SOREC2 project’s vision and objectives. He also shared his latest findings on the optimization and characterization of thin BiVO4 photoanodes. These photoanodes, doped with molybdenum, are crucial for efficient water oxidation, a critical step in the photoelectrochemical process for converting CO2 into new chemical products.

The event, dedicated to innovation and chemical research with the theme “Innovation for a green, healthy and digital world,” aimed to offer an overview of the latest discoveries in the field of chemistry, green chemistry, ecological transition, health, or artificial intelligence.
