Good news for one of our consortium members. The European Patent Office (EPO) has honored Polish scientist Olga Malinkiewicz and her team from Saule Technologies as winners in the ‘SMEs’ category of the European Inventor Award 2024. Additionally, they received the Popular Prize, chosen by the public, highlighting their significant contributions to renewable energy technologies. The winners were revealed at a ceremony held in the city of Valetta (Malta) on July 9th.

Madeline Hicks, a researcher in the Peters Group at CALTECH and member of the SOREC2 team, recently completed a visit to Europe. Her visit spanned nearly ten days at the end of May. Hicks, whose research group focuses on new concepts for catalysis, electrocatalysis, and photocatalysis, engaged in several key activities and meetings with colleagues at the University of Ferrara (UNIFE), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and ICFO. Her visit also included a face-to-face meeting with the project’s coordinator, Professor Jordi Martorell.

Several researchers from UAB and members of the SOREC2 team participated in the XVth edition of the Annual International School on Organometallic Chemistry “Marcial Moreno Mañas,” organized by the ORFEO-CINQA Network, which took place in Alicante from May 29th to May 31st, 2024. The event brought together young students, early career researchers and well-recognized experts in the field, providing a platform for cutting-edge scientific exchange of scientific information and knowledge.

In February 2024, SOREC2 team members Francisco Bernal-Texca and Jordi Martorell published an article in the journal Solar RRL describing the fabrication of a new type of organic solar cell with a four-terminal tandem configuration. The article has now been featured in the cover of the journal’s 10th issue.
